Back to work and breastfeeding... tips and recommendations for pumping at work

A good time to discuss going back to work is once breastfeeding is well established. When to start preparing to go back to work depends on how much time you have off. Example: someone with 6 weeks off would likely need to start pumping sooner than someone going back to work at 12 weeks.


We encourage you to exclusively breastfeed the first two weeks after your baby is born. If you're needing to pump or feed your baby your expressed milk or supplementing during this time period be sure to pump to stimulate your milk production and feed your baby every 2-3 hours, and schedule an appointment with us or an IBCLC in your area. If your preference is to pump and feed, then be sure to start pumping asap after delivery!
